Safely Remove Heavy Metals From Your Body

Intravenous Chelation Therapy in Plantsville & Bristol, CT

Like many Americans, you may have been exposed to various heavy metals – such as lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium, copper, and zinc. Too much exposure, or cumulative exposure over time, can cause heavy metal poisoning and lead to potentially life-threatening health issues. Confidia™ Health Institute uses advanced technology to check for lifetime exposure to heavy metal toxins – and our own IV therapy lounge to remove them from your body.

Over 95% of tested Confidia patients were found to have toxic levels of multiple heavy metals. Early detection and treatment are crucial in preventing further, life-threatening damage.

Symptoms of Heavy Metal Toxicity

Symptoms of heavy metal poisoning – or heavy metal toxicity – are varied, depending on the specific metals that have built up in your body and your age. Because of their still-developing brains, infants and children are especially vulnerable to long-term damage and behavioral disorders caused by heavy metal exposure.

Symptoms that Confidians have experienced due to heavy metal poisoning include:

Behavioral and mood changes

Physical symptoms like chills and recurring headaches

Gastrointestinal discomfort, including diarrhea and abdominal pain

Neurological issues such as poor coordination and numbness

Respiratory challenges, ranging from breathlessness to speech difficulties

Nausea or vomiting

Inside the Science

Heavy Metals In Hiding

Yes. Heavy metal exposure can cause major health problems, as most heavy metals are carcinogens. Often times, patients with heavy metal toxicity have equated their health issues to something else, or simply don’t notice it. Blood disorders such as thalassemia, kidney disease, hemochromatosis, and Wilson’s disease could all be caused by heavy metal poisoning.

Advanced Heavy Metal Testing

Confidia™ Health Institute uses state-of-the-art testing technology to determine the exact amounts of heavy metals in an individual's bloodstream. By calculating toxicity and exposure levels intravenously, Confidia™ Health Institute is able to get an accurate screening and can treat the issue properly.

Should I Get Tested For Heavy Metals?

If you have never been tested for heavy metal toxicity, it is highly recommended, especially if you have:

Spent time in a factory where heavy metals were used

Lived in a house with lead paint

Eaten fish caught in an area known for high levels of mercury

Used herbal medicines containing heavy metals

Ingested polluted water

Chelation Treatment

Many people feel that, while they likely have heavy metal poisoning, it’s just “a fact of life.” The significant side effects and potentially fatal consequences of heavy metal toxicity are not something to simply accept, and can be treated by chelation therapy – a treatment to remove the metals from your body that can be performed in our Institute. Chelation therapy introduces agents to your body that bind with the heavy metals in your bloodstream and help expel the heavy metals.

Are Oral Chelators Enough?

Chelation Therapy introduces agents to your body that bind with the heavy metals in your bloodstream and help expel them more effectively than oral chelation treatments. Oral chelators are often used in attempting to remove heavy metals, particularly iron. However, because chelation chemicals are broken down by your digestive tract, only a small percentage of an oral chelator gets into your bloodstream. To significantly increase the removal of heavy metals, Confidia Health Institute uses IV-based chelation therapy.

Heavy Metals Removal Outcomes

  • Arsenic

High concentrations of arsenic can happen naturally or as a result of human activity – such as mining or pesticide use. Arsenic can replace certain elements within your cells, and change how they function. Acute or prolonged exposure to arsenic can have major effects on the skin, liver, lungs and kidneys, eventually leading to seizures and potentially coma or death. Other complications include cancer, liver disease, diabetes and nervous system problems.

With early detection and chelation therapy, arsenic can be removed from your body before the toxicity progresses to dangerous levels.

  • Cadmium

Cadmium exposure usually occurs when you have been working with other metals – such as zinc, lead or copper. Cadmium is also found in cigarettes, batteries, pigments, fertilizers and metal coatings. Cadmium is classified by the US Environmental Protection Agency as a probable carcinogen that can cause lung damage.

Chelation therapy has been shown to be effective at removing cadmium from the body.

  • Copper

The average person has 50-80mg of copper in their body, which helps with many body processes. However, copper deficiency can cause muscle weakness, anemia, low white blood cell count and neurologic issues. Too much copper can cause the body to stop getting rid of the extra amounts, which then builds up in the kidneys, brain and eyes. This can cause liver and nerve damage. Copper toxicity can also affect how your body absorbs other nutrients, including zinc and iron.

Chelation therapy can remove an increased amount of this heavy metal from your system.

  • Lead

Most lead exposure is attributed to old batteries or lead-based paint used in older homes. Exposure to lead causes damage to the brain, kidneys, and nervous system – and is most detrimental to children.

Chelation treatment can remove lead – helping you avoid the issues mentioned above, as well as muscle weakness, loss of motor skills, confusion, and seizures.

  • Mercury

Mercury toxicity is usually caused by eating mercury-high fish or from exposure to silver fillings – and can be harmful to the brain, heart, kidneys, lungs or immune system. Often times, it presents through impaired senses, poor coordination, tremors, insomnia, muscle weakness or headaches.

Chelation treatment has been shown to significantly reduce these symptoms by removing mercury and methylmercury from the body.

  • Zinc

The average human needs no more than 40 mg of zinc per day, most of which can be obtained from a healthy diet. However, there are certain foods that contain much higher levels of zinc – such as meat, fortified grains and oysters. Multivitamins may also contain extremely large amounts of zinc. Zinc toxicity can manifest as nausea, vomiting, increased infections or low good cholesterol, but can be managed with chelation therapy.

Common Questions

  • What is heavy metal toxicity testing?

Intravenous chelation therapy is a treatment that involves the administration of chelating agents to remove heavy metals from the body. These agents bind to heavy metals in the bloodstream, which are then excreted through the kidneys. At Confidia™, we administer this therapy under careful supervision to ensure safety and effectiveness.

  • Who should consider intravenous chelation therapy?

This therapy is recommended for individuals with diagnosed heavy metal poisoning or those who have high levels of heavy metals in their body due to environmental exposure, occupational hazards, or other risk factors. It's also considered by those with symptoms of metal toxicity, such as fatigue, neurological changes, and cognitive difficulties.

  • How is intravenous chelation therapy administered?

Chelation therapy is typically given through an intravenous (IV) line, allowing the chelating agent to circulate and bind to heavy metals in the bloodstream directly. The duration and frequency of treatment vary based on individual needs and metal toxicity levels, which will be determined by our healthcare professionals.

  • What can I expect after undergoing intravenous chelation therapy?

After receiving chelation therapy, patients can expect a gradual reduction in heavy metal levels, which may result in the alleviation of symptoms associated with toxicity. Our healthcare providers will conduct follow-up tests to monitor progress and ensure that the metals have been effectively removed from your body.

  • Are there any risks associated with intravenous chelation therapy?

While chelation therapy is generally considered safe when performed by experienced medical professionals, there are potential risks and side effects, including mineral deficiencies and interactions with certain medications. At Confidia™, we carefully assess each patient's medical history and current health to minimize risks and optimize treatment outcomes.
